Adolescence's Valentine

Welp today is Valentines day and quite frankly I'm a little sour about this holiday. The only thing that I am less fond of at the moment is Justin Bieber but we will save that spill for another post. Let me break it down for you.

  • It is a nice day for people ages 5-12, while still a child Valentines day is pristine. All that matters is free candy and decorating goofy boxes. It's also not too bad for those who are married, other then the fact that it may leave a small dent in one's bank account. Yet for those who are in their adolescences its nothing but dull. I feel like its a day celebrating a bunch of hype that many of us don't even understand.
  • The term "single awareness day" is used way too much. What a foolish thing to say. I'm pretty sure if you are single you know it every other day of the year it doesn't take some silly love fest to point that out.
  • Don't get me wrong I think that love is a many splendid things or at least I imagine it to be, but a part of me finds it a little discouraging that we must dedicate a day for people to declare their love for each other. Shouldn't we be doing that every day?
  • Valentines day gifts kill me. Who decided that an over sized stuffed elephant and a box of stale chocolates was a suitable gift for the love of your life? By no means do I think that a heart shaped balloon and pre-written hallmark card isn't kind but really lets put some thought into things.
Enough of this, Happy valentines day folks may all your crazy love fantasies come true!

If all else fails resort to some classy matching tattoos like so

My Small Corner

I look at my blog and I laugh. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to follow up on the random and pointless things that I post. Honestly what kind of a person wouldn't be thrilled to know what piece of art made me smile or the fact that I lost my lucky ring breaks my heart? I guess sometimes I sort of feel guilty in a way. I know I can be one of those people who posts things that you read and then say wow did I really just waste five minutes out of my precious life looking through that? Then I think again, it's my blog right? It's all about me, which is strange. I mean I know I could be one of those normal people who writes about their tender love affairs or how touching their grandparents stories are, but I save that stuff for my journal. I've turned my blog into a place where I put beautiful things, in all shapes and forms that I can't help but share. Take it or leave it I suppose.

Blue Jeans & Flannels

It's dainty things like this that help me get through days like today.
