Saturday May 19, 2012 I'm driving south on I15 headed home from the SC state baseball game. Classic aviators on & this song floating through the air, I am chipper. Since the construction/traffic up here is horrendous, I decide to get off an exit before my regular. As i'm cruising along traffic decides to pull a quick one on me and comes to a stop out of nowhere. Unable to stop fast enough I smash into the car in front of me. A few choice words escape my mouth. Then I start laughing and crying.. a sound resembling a cackle. Really cute. I have two major concerns. 1. I can't feel my legs. 2. My car is emitting smoke & scents like crazy. Since traffic is so congested and there is no shoulder it takes me about ten minutes to get off the freeway and pull over. Fortunately I'm beginning to feel my legs again and I see that the car I hit has minor damage. (I got a kick out of the Toyota sign which imprinted into his bumper.) My shaky hands reach for the door but to my surprise the two front doors wont open. I fling my limp body into the back seat and attempt to make my break. The kid I hit had to reminds me to turn off my car. When I see my car the tears come again and all I can say to the kind gentleman is "Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. I seriously feel awful. I'm so sorry. Really I'm sorry. I'm just really sorry." Through a blurry string of events I lay myself on the grass & a highway patrol man pulls up. First words that come out of his mouth, "You're going to need to get a tow truck." No duh Sherlock. Paper work is filled out. I'm given a ticket & the Kitchen family comes to my rescue.
Whiplash sucks but telling your parents you wrecked their car is the hardest part about poor driving. I'm still cleaning up the mess that I made (with A LOT of help) but everyone is okay and I feel fortunate. My car may or may not be totaled. Lessons learned: Don't drive, ride bikes. My parents are the most amazing people in the world. The Kitchens will forever be my second family. The Toyota Yaris (my rental car) looks like a midget. C'est la vie!
Lately I like to drive up the canyon and listen to this song. My hand out the window and the wind blowing through my hair. Then I sit on the reading rock and read my favorite books while letting my feet get dorky tan lines from my tevas. I've created a lifestyle in which I am free to wallow in unfiltered experience. It all sounds rather artificial but believe me when I say that I've never been happier.
Woah. What a good week. I feel so alive.
- I hiked up to the Y.
- I rode go-karts.
- I went to Tori's wedding. I'm so happy for her.
- I openly admitted that I like the song pretty boy swag.
- I went to Jazzy & shopped at my favorite STG stores.
- I spent Sunday in Pine Valley.
- I met a french guy at the grocery store.
- I got a whole cup of ice cream for 84 cents.
- I got lost on a run.
- I laid out while eating Thai Mango & drinking diet coke. So Lauren Conrad.
- I went to Jiffy Lube & the guys gave me some brand new free eye liner.
- I celebrated Winter Wednesday.
- I said some goodbyes at kneaders.
- I was thrilled about the line up for the Twilight Concert Series.
- I went on the most beautiful hike up in Sandy.
- I was eating a banana, nutella crepe & a hobo asked me to slow dance.
So I'm rereading Into The Wild and this time around a excerpt from one of Christopher's letter really stuck with me. It goes a little something like this.
"You are wrong if you think joy emanates only or principally from human relationships. God has place it all around us. It is in everything and anything we might experience. We just have to have the courage to turn against our habitual lifestyle and engage in unconventional living."
Unconventional living yo. Lets give it a try.
Ello mate! My life has been so sweet lately.. Like really tens across the board. No splash. I finished school a week and a half ago and am already loving the summer sunshine. Although I have been a workaholic lately but that is soon to change! I love my job though. I get excited to go to work sometimes. Call me sugar mama. I'm trying to think what has happen in the last month and I'm having a hard time recalling. I got sick, I spent a lot of time with Miss Baye, I moved into a new apartment, my parents came to visit and I was thrilled, I survived finals, I enjoyed nature and most importantly I was happy.. and as for random short stories get this...
-Yesterday I was sound asleep and this strange man whom I didn't know walked into my room and started yelping for me to get out of bed. My half naked self was not only startled but livid. He then proceeded to fix my not so broken window and tell me that I was trying on too many outfits and I hated him for it.
- One time Bailey got this cute idea to text the number on the wall at Sammies. We ended up stalking and ultimately meeting the gentleman. All the while meeting like ten other weirdos.
-I've gotten so much free food lately. Most of you probably wouldn't appreciate that but I'm stoked about it. It's all about working the system.
-I have so many freaking zits on my face and I don't even understand how it happened. In all seriousness I was called zit face on Monday and yesterday I was told "this is a humbling experience for you." It wouldn't surprise me if someone thought I had oral herpes or something.Ick. I know I'm dramatic but I'm so bitter about it.
Wow this was a really dull post and I'm sure nothing has thrilled you more than hearing about my acne problems. Oh well ta ta for now.
