Redwoods Day Two.

Our second day spent on that wonderful coast was just as good if not better than the first. We started the morning off in the trees catching a glimpse of the often spoken of magic that occurs when the sun beaks through the foggy forest. Words could never depict what was seen or felt but I will tell you that it was a game changer. Surely the heavens were shining down on us.

We spent some time driving south on highway 101. We even stopped & talked with Paul Bunyan for awhile. We continued until we ran into a little kayak shop that we had spotted the day before. We rented a two person kayak &  made our way out into the big blue ocean. The fog was close around us & the water warm & inviting. We made our way to a secluded cove where we skinny dipped & embraced the perfect area that surrounded us.

After we had finished up our kayaking excursion we headed back to the Del Norte State Park. Here we wandered around the Damnation Creek trail. This was my personal favorite area. Every park has a little bit of a different look/feel & this specific one really appealed to me. We wandered around all day & were fortunate enough to catch the marvelous light show again when the sun was setting.

We decided to leave this area once it started getting cold. We figured that we should go hang our hammocks for the night. Hammock bunk beds were constructed & a search for food began. Thanks to a recommendation from a stranger, we ended up at this little diner/bar in one of the tiny towns. WE LOVED IT THERE. We ate the best burgers ever, picked some songs on the jukebox, made friends with the owners, got free french fries & felt like we were in a movie. We kept making excuses not to leave because the feeling this place had was too simple & good to be true. On our way back to our campsite we stopped at an overlook & had an unbelievable dance party. Hopping around in the forest was a dream come true. The hammock bunk beds were a feat (at least for me) & our day concluded beautifully.

Redwoods Day One.

Since the beginning of time I've wanted to trek out to the redwood forests & see what those beautiful trees had to offer. It wasn't until just a few weeks ago that I was able to make this wish come true. I remembered that I had a hefty number of frequent flyer miles lying around & decided that I would book Bekah & I flights to the middle of nowhere California. This ended up being a great decision. We even got to ride on the tiniest little prop plane (which I was stoked about).

We arrived knowing next to nothing about the area we had just touched down in. The airport we flew to in Arcata, California was the smallest place ever. It was literally one room. We picked up our rental car & instantly fell in love. We named her Nelly & took off into the great unknown which was northern California. We stopped at a diner where I ate the most delicious ham & cheese omelet of my life & then we headed north. The drive was nice. A perfect combination of ocean & the forest. During this time we had our first encounter with the redwoods. We were in shock. Never have I seen such massive & beautiful trees in all my days. We arrived at Jedediah Smith state park & explored that whole place. Driving, hiking & splashing in rivers all day long. We were awe struck to say the least. There were so many times we would simply stop walking stand there & attempt to take in our surrounding. I quickly realized this was one of the most magical places I had ever been in my life, bar none. We then headed into Crescent City & checked into our ghetto motel. We loved it & the Asian owner. After some sketchy Thai food we decided to roam around the fog kissed beach. Again, words cannot describe how perfect everything was or how happy we were just to be alive. While searching for a lighthouse we stumbled upon a perfect little cove where we ended our day.

We've Been Talkin' Bout Jackson.

It's summer which means the classic trip to Jackson. As always it a delight. We hiked around the Tetons, hung out in Driggs, rode bicycles, ate good food, tubed down the river, golfed & just took it real easy. Here are some pics to prove it.

Grizzly Bear

Woah it's been way too long. I actually forgot that blogging was even a thing. Yikes. Either way I want to get caught up before I depart for Russia tomorrow. So here's the skinny..
I survived summer school & even had time to do some adventuring.
I turned twenty one. Which is a little depressing because it's technically the last milestone & getting older is a drag. Also we didn't intend to all wear black. We look like pretty little liars or something.
I went to the llama festival again.
I spent a lot of time hanging out with Rebekah.
I danced, crowd surfed & did all my usual activities at the twilight concerts. Local Natives & Beck where the real deal.
I moved to St. George for a little bit & spent all my time wandering around my desert & eating a gross amount of Durangos.
I hung out in Pine Valley. Same great story different year.
Summer is funner.
