The Big Apple Part II

Here are some more New York shenanigans... 

Of course when you put four girls in a big city there is going to be a fair amount of shopping. There is just something so charming about strolling the streets of West Village and browsing the little shops. Also, thanks to Bailey's amazing cousin we were able to raid Seamless Showroom which was a dream come true. 

We had SO MANY TREATS. Yet Magnolia Bakery stole the show. When the frosting to cupcake ratio is 1:1, you know you are in good hands. 

We went the The Natural History Museum & The Museum of Modern Art. The MoMA was my personal favorite. I was in heaven looking at all the weird stuff. 

Baye & I went & saw Mamma Mia on Broadway. It was absolutely amazing! I felt like I was going to spew a rainbow the whole time. I was so happy! I think everyone else in the crowd was as well because we all stood up at the end & busted a move to Dancing Queen. I still can't stop listening to ABBA. We even managed to get tickets the day of for a great deal & we were only ten rows from the stage. 

Sometimes while traveling you will have hard times though. Your usual line on the subway will decide to close & your taxi driver will be a jerk & you will get ripped off & you will nearly miss your ferry & you will have no way of getting home & all the taxi services will hang up on you & in the midst of all of this you will snap a super cute selfie that seems to express the exhaustion you are feeling. On the bright side we saw LL Cool J that night. 

TIME SQUARE. Its pretty simple, that place is overwhelmingly rad. 

We survived the coldest day known to man. I'm not kidding the wind felt like shards of glass hitting your face. It was rough. Unlike my pals I take being warm very seriously & bundled up. I only looked a little crazy walking around the streets & sitting on the subway. Practicality wins every time. 

If you happen to be in NYC go to Serendipity & get their frozen hot chocolate. As well as Ralph's for one of their Italian ices. You wont regret it. 

 

We experienced Grand Central Terminal during a very busy time. That place reminds me of something straight from Harry Potter & I love that.

We got to hang out with the cutest gal in all of New York City! 

& when the time came my plane ride home so painless. I even had a window seat & sat next to the cutest Chinese couple who kept feeding each other french fries.

Central Park

My favorite place we visited during our time in New York was easily Central Park. Therefore I feel like it deserves a post of its own. Maybe its because it is one of New York's only remaining plots of actual land. The east is an interesting place. Very neat, but VERY crowded. I think we messed up by over constructing those parts and got a chance to do things right when we hit the west. Thank goodness for our mountains/open land right!? What I'm trying to get at is that Central Park is a super cool place & the fact that this monstrous city would let such a large chunk of land remain land is great! It was wonderful to see so many people flocking there in an effort to escape the city & feel human. 

We spent our day in Central Park laying on the rocks and drinking lemonade. I climbed trees & we people watched. We ate Mexican food  & enjoyed the street performers.We also went on a splendid little carriage ride through the park. It was such a beautiful day! 

The Big Apple Part I

I promise I was going to compose an exciting & detailed description of our week in New York but then life happened. Here's the skinny, I travel hacked my way into getting a free domestic flight [which I will write about later because everyone should do it] and decided that New York is a place worth seeing. So Bailey, Jenna, Chandis, & I obtained some plane tickets & made our way to The Big Apple. Lucky for us we were able to stay with Bailey's amazing family. They surely made our trip ten times better. They were constantly letting us in on some of the secrets of the city. We did it all. Hitting nearly every tourist attraction & I loved that aspect of our trip.

We ventured on the Staten Island ferry every day & made a friend named John who gave us tons of good advice. 

We became obsessed with everything bagels. They just don't make bagels like that over here. I may or may not have had them every single day for breakfast. 

We had a humbling experience at Ground Zero. 

We checked out Trinity Church. 

We tried to get into the unfinished World Trade Center.

We caught a lovely view of the statue of liberty every day although I never snapped pictures. Jenna makes a pretty cute one though. 

We experienced the breathtaking view from The Empire State Building. Which just happened to be the most amazing city view I've ever seen. 

We checked out the Wall Street scene. 

We wandered all around that concrete jungle. 

We had several amazing meals & adventures in Little Italy.  

We ended up exploring China Town for hours. Something about the smell of garbage/dead fish filling the streets was comforting & made me miss China.
